Job Description

General Purpose of Position:
The Assistant Controller is responsible for managing operational data and accuracy. This individual will assist in month end closing financial reporting process including account analysis and reconciliation. The Assistant Controller will assist the Controller in producing accurate and timely financial statements.
Primary Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

  • Ensure that all approved reasonable discounts are taken on accounts payable.

  • Ensure that accounts receivable are collected promptly.

  • Process payroll in a timely manner.

  • Conduct account reconciliation and analysis.

  • Ensure that periodic bank reconciliations are completed.

  • Ensure that required debt payments are made in a timely basis.

  • Assist the controller in the direction of the accounting functions of the company.

  • Maintain a chart of accounts.

  • Maintain an orderly accounts filing system.

  • Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions.

  • Monitor investment policies and operations of the company.

  • Maintain confidentiality of and compliance with all company and patient information in accordance with federal, state and local regulations, HIPAA regulations and Company policies.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Education, Skills and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required with strong math aptitude.

  • Minimum one (3) year related experience, preferably in similar-sized practice.

  • Minimum one (3) year data entry experience preferred.

  • Healthcare experience preferred.

  • Must have high-level expertise with excel including modeling and pivot tables.

  • Must be detail oriented.

  • Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines as well as be flexible and dependable.

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational and analytical skills.

  • Structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.

  • Knowledge of insurance carrier payment policies, practices, and amounts.

  • Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.

  • Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.

  • Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.

  • Ability to handle multiple priorities with a sense of urgency.

  • Excellent interpersonal communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills.

  • Motivating, developing, and directing people as they work.

  • Being aware of others' reactions, understanding why they react as they do, and adjusting one’s own actions in relation to others.

  • Bringing others together and trying to reconcile differences.
