Job Description

General Purpose of Position:

The dietician initiates and conducts nutritional assessments on identified clients to complement their treatment plan based on a nutritional screening. Is responsible for the development and implementation of any necessary nutritional care plans, dietary policies. Works as a member of the treatment team to deliver the highest quality of care to clients.

Primary Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
  • Utilizes information from the treatment team and clients history to set individualized nutrition goals.
  • Works closely with the treatment team regarding patients with any history of eating disorders, nutritional needs and dietary recommendations.
  • Conducts groups for patients emphasizing stress management, healthy nutrition, body image and life skills
  • Assists clients with shopping, menu planning and preparation to achieve nutrition goals, as needed.
  • Documents group and individual activities; responsible for completion of chart reflecting individual needs.
  • Demonstrates adherence to code of ethics and professional standards set by the American Dietetic Association and the Florida Department of Professional Regulations
  • Maintains continuing education requirements set by ADA and DPR.
  • Maintains open communication lines with facility staff, attending clinicians and physicians, patients and families.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Education, Skills and Experience Requirements:
  • B.S. in Nutrition or Dietetics with two (2) years’ experience, Master’s degree preferred.
  • Must be a Registered Dietician
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certifications preferred, but not required.
  • Strong organizational, decision-making, problem-solving and time management skills.
  • Must be detail oriented and proficient in computer documentation
  • Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines as well as be flexible and dependable.
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational and analytical skills.
  • Exceptional customer/client service with the ability to resolve service issues.
  • Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills.

  • Listen to and understand information and ideas presented through verbal and written words and sentences.
  • Communicate information and ideas verbally and written so others will understand.
  • Apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
  • Combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions; including finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events.
  • Identify/recognize when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong and know who to involve for resolution.
  • Generate various ideas about a given topic.
