Job Description

General Purpose of Position:

The Executive Director has day-to-day responsibility for the management and operation of the facility.  The Executive Director has the primary responsibility for the development, implementation and achievement of the facility’s strategic business plan in conjunction with routine operations to include quality of care, staff development, maintenance of licensure and accreditations, financial performance and continuous performance improvement.


Primary Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

  • Manages the day-to-day operations and staff to ensure the facility achieves its objectives in effective patient outcomes, appropriate fiscal management, maintenance of licensure, accreditation and other regulatory criteria, and implementation of focused business development processes
  • Organizes the day-to-day management and operations of the facility through departmentalization, delegation and alignment of responsibilities to meet the facility’s patient care and business objectives
  • Ensures hospital quality metrics are achieved through sound clinical processes following evidence-based practices and accreditation and regulatory agency guidelines.
  • Supports the Facility’s quality assessment and improvement program, and implements processes that measure and assess the performance improvement and safety improvement activities of the Facility and its programs,
  • Performs or delegates the performance of all personnel, financial, strategic planning, and other management functions within the Facility, except to the extent that such functions are explicitly and exclusively reserved to the Corporation
  • Holds Medical Staff accountable for the services it provides at the Facility
  • Ensures the Facility’s compliance with applicable laws and regulations, including, without limitation, applicable licensure requirements in accordance with local, state, tribal, and federal laws and regulations
  • Ensure the timely submission of month-end financial and operational reviews, contribute to the development of and participation in corporate-wide strategic planning efforts.
  • Promotes effective and timely communication throughout the Facility, among the Facility’s programs, among related organizations and with patients and families.
  • Evaluates periodically any contracted care and services to determine whether they are being provided in accordance with the terms of the applicable contracts and consistent with the level of safety and quality the Facility expects
  • Establishes internal controls to effectively operate the Facility including: (i) establishing and maintaining information and support systems; (ii) recruiting and retaining staff; and (iii) conserving physical and financial assets;
  • Ensures that programs or services providing patient care are directed by one or more qualified individuals with appropriate training
  • Ensures that an integrated patient safety program is implemented throughout the Facility
  • Creates an environment and culture that focuses on fulfilling the organizations mission, vision and values. Creates vision, mission and goal statements, evaluating the Facility’s performance in relation to such statements, developing and implementing policies and procedures for care, treatment, and services, and ensuring policies and procedures are consistently implemented.
  • Ensures that communication is effective throughout the Facility and among the Facility’s programs, among related organizations, with outside organizations, and with patients and families, as appropriate.
  • Provides for the arrangement and allocation of space, equipment and other resources to facilitate efficient, effective delivery of care, treatment, and services.
  • Responsible for carrying out the directives of the Corporation’s officers and Board of Directors.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

ducation, Skills and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Accounting, or related field required; Master’s degree is preferred.
  • At least five (5) years of experience in a Director role in a behavioral health field.
  • Must have valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.
  • Strong clinical skills.
  • Must be detail oriented.
  • Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities as well as be flexible and dependable.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, presentation and analytical skills.
  • Structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Principles and processes for providing patient services. This includes patient needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of patient satisfaction.
  • Exceptional patient/client service with the ability to resolve service issues.
  •  Knowledge of regulatory and licensure requirements and accreditation standards.Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Use logic and reasoning and relative cost and benefitsto identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Conflict negotiation and mediation skills
  • Motivating, developing, and directing people as they work.
