Job Description

General Purpose of Position:

The Family Therapist is responsible for performing a wide variety of patient care activities as directed by the attending Physician, Medical Director and Clinical Director. This position is responsible for a patient caseload and provides in-depth individual, family, and group counseling. Counseling includes the ongoing completion of psychosocial and bio-psychosocial assessments. The Family Therapist collaborates with the Clinical Team to develop individualized treatment plans and assists in coordinating discharge planning.
This position follows patients’ progress from a psychological standpoint, beginning with admittance through discharge. During this time, the Family Therapist maintains frequent and open communication with the Clinical Director and Therapists regarding any issues or problems.
Primary Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

* Establish individualized family therapy programs, through face to face and/or phone communication with families of Sunspire Health patients.

* Conduct and evaluate family assessments.

* Conduct family counseling sessions both with and without the patient.

* Coordinate referrals and resources for patients’ families in their local area.

* Coordinate with patients’ families and the Clinical Team regarding patient treatment plans and discharge/aftercare planning.

* On a monthly basis, coordinate and lead a family retreat consisting of individual and group therapy, psycho-educational lectures with a question and answer period, meeting key staff and touring facility, and finalization of discharge and aftercare planning.

* Participate in off-site training activities that directly relate to Family Therapy. 

* Create group curriculum and run groups for the Sunspire Health facility, focusing on Family Systems issues and their recovery.

* Maintain frequent and consistent timely documentation of all family counseling activities. 

* May be asked to complete Concurrent Reviews / Utilization Reviews

* Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Education, Skills and Experience Requirements:

* Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.

* At least three (3) years of experience in a behavioral health setting.

* Must maintain the following licensures: LCSW, LMHC, LMFT, AARNP.

* Must have acquired all required state licensures.

* Must have valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.

* Must maintain CPR and First Aid certifications.

* Strong clinical skills.

* Must be detail oriented.

* Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines as well as be flexible and dependable.

* Strong interpersonal, organizational and analytical skills.

* Structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.

* Principles and processes for providing patient services. This includes patient needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of patient satisfaction.

* Human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders.

* Exceptional patient/patient service with the ability to resolve service issues.

* Business acumen.

* Knowledge of CARF standards.

* Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.

* Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.

* Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.

* Ability to handle multiple priorities with a sense of urgency.

* Excellent interpersonal communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills.

* Motivating, developing, and directing people as they work.
