Job Description

The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for managing health problems and coordinating health care for clients. This person will conduct examinations and study results in order to determine the case of illness. The Nurse Practitioner functions under the guidance of their State Licensure within our facility  in accordance of State and Federal regulations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works collaboratively with medical director and nursing to provide assessments and medical evaluations.
  • Independently performs physical for complex acute, critical and chronically ill patients.
  • Supports staff in conducting nursing/medical assessments.
  • Orders and interprets diagnostic and therapeutic tests.
  • Prescribes appropriate treatment.
  • Implements interventions to support the patient to regain or maintain physiologic stability.
  • Assists with the provision of clinical care in accordance with facility, state and federal regulations.
  • Monitors the effectiveness of interventions.
  • Collaborates with other staff members by making appropriate referrals.
  • Provide educational tools to patient and family members.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Licensed Nurse Practitioner and Bachelors or Masters degree from an accredited college or university.
  • At least five (5) years of experience in a behavioral health setting.
  • Must have valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.
  • Must maintain CPR and First Aid certifications.

  • Knowledge of Joint commission standards.
  • Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities with a sense of urgency.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills.
  • Motivating, developing, and directing people as they work.
  • Being aware of others' reactions, understanding why they react as they do, and adjusting one’s own actions in relation to others.
  • Bringing others together and trying to reconcile differences.
  • Promote a positive response to change, with clients as well as other staff members.
